BrightStar Care of Fairfax presents Senior Solutions, a series of educational presentations and/or trainings focusing on a variety of aging-related topics.
THE FOLLOWING SENIOR SOLUTIONS PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE:
Virtual Dementia Tour®
This patented program of nonprofit organization Second Wind Dreams, uses sensory tools and training based on research conducted by P.K. Beville, M.S., a specialist ingeriatrics and the founder of Second Wind Dreams®. The Virtual Dementia Tour® is facilitated by a trained Alzheimer's speaker and facilitator, and makes it possible
for participants to experience the physical and mental challenges associated with dementia. This program is ideal for professional and family caregivers, health care workers, and community members who have routine interactions with people living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or other significant cognitive impairments.
Advance Care Planning:
What are Health Care Goals and Wishes?
This program presents the goals of the Advance Care Planning process- including how to identify a health care agent and establish wishes for care in the event that one unexpectedly becomes incapacitated. This is program highlights Respecting Choices, which helps health care organizations and communities develop a culture of person-centered care by implementing care planning systems utilizing shared decision making.Aging in Place
Provides information about health care resources available in the community for those who wish to “age in place” in the comfort of home or in the home of a family member. Discusses benefits of in-home care services and tips for ensuring a successful care experience.Home Safety for Seniors
Offers recommendations to seniors and their family members for safety in the home.
Topics discussed include fall prevention, medication safety and tips for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.Meaningful Connections
Caring for a Loved One with Memory Impairments
Meaningful Connections strives to help persons living with dementia live a life of dignity and purpose, in the safety of their own homes. Our goal is to provide those living with dementia the individualized care and support needed to enjoy optimal health and emotional well being while helping them maintain the family and community connections that matter most to them. Our training provides valuable insights to those caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, ultimately helping family caregivers have more meaningful interactions with their loved ones.Note: All BrightStar Senior Solutions programs are developed and presented by a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA®), who is trained to assist aging adults in planning for their future healthcare, housing, financial, and social needs
