The BrightStar team, from the Care Managers to our caregivers, are knowledgeable, reassuring, and caring. My mother had fairly significant needs and was resistant to any help, yet our primary caregiver Lilian was amazing with her, gaining her trust. Lilian was consistently calm, caring, and incredibly helpful for my mother. She's a wealth of experience and gave us much-needed break from caregiving. Our other caregiver Kaylan brought such warmth and cheer with my mother. And she was incredibly quick with any tasks we had. I deeply appreciate both of them for helping our family through a very difficult time.

We used brightstar for a couple of months before we moved our Mom to an AL home. Their communication via email/phone was prompt and the industry knowledge they provided us was very helpful. Also wanted to say what a wonderful person Michelle is. Mom thoroughly enjoyed her company – she was courteous, very attentive, and a joy to be around. My Mom was talking about the people she will miss not living in Alexandria and Michelle made the list of friends!

Yesterday I said goodbye to my caregiver, Rahel. Her loving care and support over the past three months was extraordinary. Her cheerful smile and delightful personality along with her maturity and skill as a caregiver made my recovery from spinal surgery a pleasant experience. She made sure I did my exercises, wore my brace, walked every day and, of course, took my blood pressure. We had fun walking at the mall and watching travelogues and some movies. BrightStar is so lucky to have her.

The circumstances under which you would need BrightStar are trying. In our case it was made more difficult by an insurance company trying to do everything they could to minimize the benefit payment. BrightStar was with us every step of the way. The people they provided were well trained and responsive. Not every one was a perfect fit, but BrightStar did everything they could to provide the right person for our situation. In the end, Rahel was the perfect person for us – showed up exactly on time every day, focusing on the patient’s needs every second she was here and documenting everything that was done in the plan of care. BrightStar’s billing statements describe everything was performed - perfect documentation. With the excellent care received, we now no longer need Rahel, but we will miss her.

Our Story

My husband, Rob, and I opened BrightStar Care in 2012. Providing exceptional home care and excellent customer service is deeply personal for us. We are a family-owned and operated agency - in fact – Rob’s cousin, Jenifer Massie, is our Director of Operations in Lynchburg. From our family and our amazing team, you should expect, and will receive local, personalized, responsive home care.

The impetus in opening BrightStar was our own experience in seeking care for our parents. They wished to remain in their home but we became increasingly worried about their safety and well-being. We knew there had to be a better way to provide home care services and so founded BrightStar Care. Our mission is to provide all levels of care (companion, personal, skilled) in order to keep our community safe at home. We provide services to all ages – newborns through seniors – and are able to provide high acuity services such as vent-trach care.
