BIO

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AN RN?
38 years this year.

WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOME AN RN/INFUSION NURSE AND WHAT WAS YOUR PATH TO GETTING HERE?
I started working in a hospital in 1980 and spent 14 years in various areas of the hospital including the code team, mostly telemetry. In 1994 my classmate was a supervisor of a homecare agency so I went to work for her and I loved homecare!  I was always especially good with infusions.

WHAT ASPECT OF YOUR JOB ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT? 
The best aspect of this job is serving the patients assigned to my care and making sure they receive the best care possible.

HOW ARE YOU MAKING MORE POSSIBLE FOR YOUR BRIGHTSTAR CLIENTS?
I make more possible for my clients by doing the very best I can and providing the best service I can.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER RNs AND NURSES WHO WANT TO DO INFUSIONS?
Keeping steady hands and nerves helps, as well as making patients as comfortable as possible to put them at ease and make the experience as pleasant as possible. Most patients enjoy a sense of humor.

TELL US YOUR FAVORITE NURSING MOMENT/STORY?
There are so many stories, it is difficult to pick just one. When you see marked improvement resulting from treatments and realize that what you are doing has a positive impact.

HOW DO YOU RECOUP AND RE-ENERGIZE?
I recoup and re-energize by taking vacations and enjoying time with family and friends as being a PRN, meaning that I work as  the situations demands, allowing for a more flexible schedule.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT JULIE FROM THE PARENT OF ONE OF HER CLIENTS:
There is so much I could say.  When all other nurses fail, Julie can always do it. She always gets in there and does her work on lifeline. She is so classy, encouraging, and all put together; truly a top-notch nurse. We have had nurses from other companies come in to do infusions who got discouraged and could not complete the task. Julie always comes in knowing that she will leave with a successful infusion visit. She takes a challenge and heads right into it. We love her so much.

Julie Hanner is a hardworking, competent skilled registered nurse with many years of experience. Julie always puts a smile on her patients faces. From pediatric patients to the elderly Julie is one of our best RN’s here at BrightStar.  She is a well-rounded person who puts each patient at ease when she walks into their home. We are very fortunate to have such a stellar RN working for Brightstar and making such a difference in our community. She is a pleasure to work with and is very punctual with shifts and turning in notes. Julie is our infusion Rockstar.
