HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A CAREGIVER?
Prior to working in the U.S. I worked as a caregiver in Israel for many years. After working in Israel I came to the U.S. where I have been working as a caregiver for 5 years.WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOME A CAREGIVER?
I grew up with my grandparents, which taught me how to take good care of their basic needs. I learned ways to help keep my grandparents healthy. The appreciation I received from them motivated me to do the same for the others.
WHAT ASPECT OF YOUR JOB ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?
I’m most passionate about allowing people to maintain their dignity. This includes their sense of independence especially when they require assistance in performing basic activities of daily living. I use tact and respect so that they don’t feel helpless.
HOW ARE YOU MAKING THINGS MORE POSSIBLE FOR YOUR BRIGHTSTAR CLIENTS?
I carefully listen to the clients when I interact with them. I am intuitive and learn about what the client wants to do as well as their energy levels. I help establish routines that enable the clients to be able create attainable and realistic goals. The client’s self-esteem increases as a result of these accomplishments. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER CAREGIVERS?
I advise them to maintain Patience, Respect and Adaptability with every Client.
TELL US YOUR FAVORITE CAREGIVING MOMENT/STORY
My favorite caregiving moments are when clients ask me “When will I see you next?” or “Thank You, for taking care of me.” My most favorite heartfelt remark from my clients is “I miss you already.” Hearing those words, lets me know that I’m providing meaningful quality services to the client.
HOW DO YOU RE-ENERGIZE?
What keeps me energized is traveling as much as I can. I also re-energize by sleeping especially since I work graveyard shift. Socializing with my close friends and family also helps me feel invigorated.
