HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A NURSE?
I graduated back in 2018, but I’ve been actively practicing for about a year now.
WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOME A NURSE?
I worked as a veterinary nurse for 10 years, and although I loved my animal patients, I also really loved building the connection and relationships with the pet owners that would bring their pets to us consistently through the years. I started to feel a pull in my heart, a desire to work more closely with people and to be able to help people. That’s when I decided that nursing was my calling.
WHAT ASPECT OF YOUR JOB ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT?
My patients for sure…being able to care for them in a way that makes they feel cared for. Being able to build relationships with them and their families.
HOW ARE YOU MAKING THINGS MORE POSSIBLE FOR YOUR BRIGHTSTAR CLIENTS?
I’m able to provide necessary medical treatments within the comfort of their own home. It allows for much less disruption to their lives. And to provide care for my patients in which travel is much more difficult due to their health conditions.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER NURSES?
Love people. Lead with kindness, compassion and empathy. Be a light in others lives. Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” You never know just how profoundly your kindness can impact another’s life.
TELL US YOUR FAVORITE NURSE MOMENT/STORY:
I really don’t have a favorite story. I love what I do every day, and I love my patients. I’m truly blessed to have a career that I love. Every day I get to help someone is a favorite to me.
HOW DO YOU RE-ENERGIZE?
LOL! Well, I’m a single working mom and have a 2 ½ year son at home so re-energizing happens through coffee and napping when my son naps! I do love spending time with loved ones and getting out in nature when possible. Also, spending time with God through prayer and reading the bible or listening to worship music really helps keep me grounded and helps maintain my mental health.
