Getting an infusion is not considered a fun thing to do, but it helps when the person giving it has become a friend. Maryann says, “We were very hesitant to receive this infusion at home, but Linda has made this a pleasant experience.” Her outgoing personality has helped create hours of fun conversation during something most people consider not to be so fun, showing what an incredible nurse she is.
Nomination Letter
Written by Linda K., spouse of clientInitially I was impressed with her punctuality and professionalism. She is very outgoing and friendly, a bubbly personality! Our visits fly by and never seem like the four hours that she is here providing IV treatment for my husband.
One time my husband had an allergic reaction to his infusion. Linda stayed with him, administered an injection of Benadryl and stayed on the phone with the pharmacy department to be sure that everything that needed to be done was done. She called numerous times that night and the next morning to be sure everything was okay. She was also very proactive and took the initiative to request Tylenol and allergy medicine to prevent any further reaction to the infusion and thankfully it has never happened again.
We realize that this is part of her job, but we appreciate the time it takes for her to get to us, especially in the winter months. She always calls if she runs into traffic to let us know what’s going on so we don’t worry. Every month she calls the day before to confirm the date and time of John’s appointment which is a good reminder. I always know that he is in good hands if I’m not present during his infusion. She will always call me if I need to watch out for any side effects if that need arises.
We were very hesitant to receive this infusion at home, but Linda has made this a pleasant experience. We have hours of pleasant conversation which makes the time fly by.
