Nomination Letter

Written by the client, Voleania

My initial impression of Jill Tedesco, RN, was how she was very thoughtful, loving and kind, as well as very funny – she has given laughter to my life. Her personality is so positive and energetic. When she enters a room, she fills it up with so much love and laughter that it brings healing to you.

Health caregiving is always about what Jill can do to make you feel better. The kind of care she brings is excellent – she loves her patients, she’s very patient, very kind and thoughtful about how she administers her care. She is very considerate, especially when I’m having a bad day. She allows me to express myself and just listens when she’s giving me the infusion. She is very gentle with the initial part of the infusion and she does a very good job.

Her caregiving has helped me tremendously. I am now working and teaching again. She has helped me believe in myself again, even though I have to still take my treatments. I know for a fact that I would never be able to get this far if I didn’t have her as my nurse. She’s an excellent nurse that truly believes this is her calling in life. Jill goes out of her way to make sure that you are given the proper care. When she comes every two weeks, I don’t feel like I’m just a number to her. I feel like I’m a person that she cares about.

Jill is very detailed in what she does. She always checks my blood pressure, temperature and all my vitals every 15 minutes. I was so happy to receive my care at home instead of at the infusion center.

When Jill first came to me as a caregiver, I was not just sick physically, but I was also very depressed. I felt like my life was upside down and I wasn’t going to get it back. Jill helped me be positive and encouraged me to keep fighting. It wasn’t easy for me to want to keep on fighting because I was just so depressed, but every time she came, she brought an energy and joy that made me change my thinking.

When you talk about how laughter is medicine to the soul, Jill has that gift. I don’t think anybody could do that unless you were anointed by God. I still have to take my infusions, but I’m not depressed like I used to be. No matter how bad my week has been, when she comes over I know that she’s going to light up and bring laughter and joy and give me a another outlook on how life can be. When you’re going through this sickness sometimes your faith goes down and you just need someone to help pick it up. She gave me physical help with the infusions, as well as her support with my mental state reminding me there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Jill has been my nurse for about three years and during that time, my life has changed for the better and I thank God for her every day. I feel like it’s the way she loves nursing and she loves people. My family and I love her; she is part of our family.

Jill has truly earned respect and honor from my family because of what she’s done in my life and I praise God for her. Jill has also helped my family to understand the dynamics of my illness. They’re now more understanding and realize why it took Mom a while to be Mom again. I’m still struggling, but I’m not where I used to be and that’s because of Jill helping them understand the dynamics of my situation. I’m really grateful for that so that’s how she’s impacted my family by giving information and helping my family to be more sensitive.

Jill has impacted my life as a registered nurse in so many ways. When I first got diagnosed I was very depressed, couldn’t walk, had trouble breathing and did not know if I was going to make it. Three years later I am walking, driving and working as a teacher again. I truly believe that this is her calling in life because she helped me to fight; not too many people can do that. I’m still climbing a mountain, but I’ve overcome a lot. Sometimes you can’t walk alone. Sometimes you need someone to help you walk and she gave me phenomenal care.

And one last thing. Jill will go out of her way just to make sure she gives you the care that you need and she will fit the infusions into her schedule somehow. She’s very dedicated to BrightStar Care and her patients.
