Michelle is a godsend. After having what was supposed to be a laparoscopic surgery turn into a full open mid-procedure because of a previously undetected large tumor (that was thankfully benign) my recovery turned from 2 to 6 weeks to multiple months. After my second stint in the hospital for complications after the surgery I was left with a massive open wound and an infection. That's when I got my first ever home health nurse. I can say with full confidence that my nurse Michelle has been exactly the person I needed in my corner helping me through this. She was the first person on my care team that was actually honest with me on just how long of a road to recovery I was looking at, allowing me to make the necessary financial adjustments to not fall behind on my bills. She educated me on the healing process for a wound like mine instead of giving me vague answers and platitudes like the doctors were doing. She was the one who knew when I needed to go to the ER because the infection had turned dangerous. I was admitted that same day and was back in surgery the next morning to clear out the bad tissue. She caught it just as I was turning septic. Turned out I had been on the wrong antibiotics for the kind of infection that I had. I spent four more days in the hospital getting the right meds through IV before getting to return home with a new prescription. I'm well on the road to healing now and that has everything to do with Michelle. She didn't dismiss me when I told her that I thought I was having a negative reaction to the medihoney they were putting in my wound. My wound care doctor was blaming my infection for my side effects, and not at all hearing me when I said I'd had obvious swelling with 2 hours of it being put on my wound the very first time. With me going back into the hospital 2 days later for the infection my observations were dismissed completely. For nearly a month I had the same swelling. Michelle heard me and took me seriously. With her being experienced with open wounds like mine she agreed that not all wounds benefited from the use of medihoney. Some types of bacteria would even feed off the sugar in the honey. She was the one to remind me I could refuse anything I didn't want and so I did. I figured we could leave it out for one wound dressing change to see what happened. It looked a bit better on the next dressing change so we left it out again. The next time was even better. Within 4 days of stopping it there was very obvious and marked improvement in my wound healing. My wound care doctor couldn't argue with the results and removed it from my care instructions. Without Michelle I wouldn't have had the confidence to speak up and be firm with my doctor. I knew from my short stint working in health care back when I was much younger that a good nurse was worth their weight in gold. I feel lucky that I got a great one during a time in my life when I truly needed it.

Roberto (OT) has been providing the best service to my son and I couldn’t be happier. My son is always happy to see him each visit, he’ll let me know what comes next for my son’s therapy. Iv seen a huge improvement since he started seeing Roberto, I would recommend him to anyone who is needing OT services.

We have had the blessing of having Rudi with Brightstar care, care for my senior mother. She has been wonderful! Always so sweet, kind and patient. We love that we have the same person every week. Brightstar has always been prompt in responding to my calls and providing answers to my questions.

I had a wonderful experience with BrightStar Home Health after cervical spine surgery. The nurses were very caring and thorough, especially Kellie. I also had the BEST physical therapy with Audra. She was super dependable, thorough, very caring and patient. I will definitely request them again if the need arises in the future. ❤️
