Every day, a growing number of dedicated nurses care for aging adults and people with complex medical needs inside their homes, administering daily medications, providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness, and managing personalized plans of care. To pay tribute to the specialized and tireless work of thousands of nurses throughout the network, BrightStar Care launched a national Nurse of the Year program to recognize the nurses who are working hard to deliver A Higher Standard of Home Care each and every day. This year, our Care Manager, Jill LeGrand was nominated. Here is the nomination letter about Jill: Jill came to work for us in February of last year. I was functioning as the DON, Case Manager, Owner and jack of all trades. Jill came in and immediately jumped in and met all of our PAS clients and began care managing all of them, even the grumpy ones. We have a few high maintenance clients one even call her Jill the Pill and she still shows up to see him every week with a smile on her face. There have been many weekends when clients needed something and instead of calling me as the nurse on call she just went to take care of their needs. When we have been overloaded with infusion cases or someone has called in sick she has jumped in and made sure those clients were cared for also. Knowing that her PAS clients still had needs to be met and would have to be taken care of later in the day. She has worked liked a trooper with a smile on her face and care in her heart to make sure clients needs are met. I can't train someone to care the way she does and to me that makes her definitely the Nurse of the Year. BrightStar Care of Southeast Houston is a caring awesome place because of her.
