BrightStar Shines - Employee Awards 2020

September 14, 2020

Thank you to all who attended our employee awards ceremony.

Below are all the nominees for BrightStar Shines!

Brenda-SLC-Award.jpgBRENDA J.: “Brenda is so caring, kind, compassionate, and respectful.  We always look forward to the days to be with her.  She always makes sure that all our needs are met with utmost care and kindness.  She truly is our angel on earth, and we are so grateful to have her in our lives.  The brightest star is truly a Bright star because of angels like Mrs. Brenda Jones.”

Star-SLC-Award.pngSTAR L.: “We moved to Utah in December 2019 specifically because of the care we are receiving from Primary Children’s Hospital for our immunocompromised 2 yr. old.  A pandemic is a scary time to be in 1) a new place, and 2) with no family and friends nearby, and 3) with a child with immune system issues.  Star has been a wealth of information, our lifeline of information to understanding how she is managing covid and even an excellent source of “what to do in the area!”  We are exceptionally pleased with her professionalism and skill, and her active efforts to engage with our 2 yr. old so that this process is easy and enjoyable for him.  He looks forward to seeing Star and getting his shot!!!”

Doug-SLC-Caregiver-Award.pngDOUG B.: “We had Doug Brown as a wonderful caregiver for almost 2 years.  He read to my husband, took him on walks, and made him cheese sandwiches.  He and Steve go to the basement and just listen to Andre Bocelli and all genres of music from classical to country western.  He is a friend to my husband and the bond they share is priceless.”

Peggy-SLC-Caregiver-Award.pngPEGGY R.: “Peggy always arrives on time, with a smile and cheerful greeting.  She starts my day with a positive attitude.  She changes my brief and dresses me with a very compassionate and professional attitude.  Peggy is a very easy person to have a conversation with.  She has a large range of topics that she’s knowledgeable about and listens too.  Upon leaving, she ALWAYS asks “is there anything else I can do or get for you? Are you sure?”  She makes my medical situation much easier and my mental attitude more optimistic.  She is a tremendous individual.”

Kennedy-SLC-Caregiver-Award.pngKENNEDY G.: “Kennedy is like a boy scout; trustworthy, kind, clean, respectful, smart, caring, and reverent.  She’s very dependable, she is great at knowing what I need ahead of time and is always prepared.  If I ever had a daughter, I’d hope she’d be like Kennedy.  She’s a blessing to spend time with me, take me shopping and be my friend.”

James-SLC-Caregiver-Award.pngJAMES E.:  Most Willing to Help.  James is always willing to help out BrightStar Care with staffing needs.  If we go back through the office texts with James, here is the sampling we would get, “Sure Jenn, sign me up”; “Certainly Britt“; “By all means”; “That will be no problem.”  A huge thank you to James for being so willing to help and flexible with his schedule.

Jannelle-SLC-Caregiver-Award.pngJANELLE B.: “Janelle has helped us rebuild our lives over the last several months, has gone above and beyond our expectations.  She has shown both of us that she is a very empathetic, caring individual. Always ready to help us in any way possible.  Whether it be a late-night call or setting up appointments.  She studies and learns techniques of spinal cord injury patients to help them and their loved ones to be able to handle life and new situations.”

Elija-BrightStar-SLC-Caregiver-Award.jpgELIJAH T.: “Elijah comes each day motivated and upbeat, ready to give assistance. The first time I met him, even though he wears his mask, I looked at his eyes and they are eager.  He is willing to gain knowledge about the condition that I have to make sure he is providing the best care possible.  He wants to learn, better himself and improve his skills.”

Julie,-SLC-Caregiver-Award.pngJULIE Y.: “Julie is so kind whenever she comes to my home as well as on the phone.  She takes my vital signs every 5 months and is very careful with everything she does.  I confided with her some family issues and she made me feel better.”

Courtney-cargiver-SLC-Award.jpgCOURTNEY S.: “Ever since the beginning of my treatments Courtney has been kind, loving, and professional.  She always takes time to check up on me and my family, and she does it so sincerely that my appointments are truly a highlight in my month.  She treats me like a person and not just another patient.  She has changed my life for the better and I could not ask for a better person to be my nurse.”

Caroline-SLC-Award.jpgCAROLINE P.:  Pandemic Hero!  A few things that Caroline’s references said about her, “She connects to people” “She is personable, has empathy for others, and is quick to help” and “she is a rock”.  Caroline grew up in Maine and at the time that Caroline came on board with us she was a student at BYU on summer break.  She was taking the CNA classes “covid-style” aka virtually.  Caroline took on a live-in with a covid positive client with skill, grace, and responsibility.
