BrightStar Care, owned and operated by Bob Brueckman, recently announced that Wendy Traff-Barrow has accepted the role of Regional Director of Private Duty Operations and Recruiting, a new position that completes the organization’s regional leadership team.

Traff-Barrow, who joined the team at BrightStar Care in November 2015, has spent nearly two decades working in health care on the Eastern Shore, including assisted living and adult medical day care. Prior to accepting her current position, she acted as branch manager of BrightStar's Easton location until February 2018. As branch manager, she was responsible for that office's daily operations, overseeing client care coordination, care staff and administrative staff.

Most recently, Traff-Barrow acted as Marketing and Recruiting Liaison, where she worked with the organization’s marketing team to advance BrightStar Care's community outreach initiatives across the Eastern Shore, including their 'Senior Solutions' educational series, which focuses on age-related topics, ranging from Alzheimer’s and dementia care to home safety tips for seniors. Additionally, she was responsible for staff recruiting initiatives across the organization.

In her role as Regional Director of Private Duty Operations and Recruiting, Traff-Barrow oversees the daily operations of all three of BrightStar’s offices, owned and operated by Brueckman – BrightStar Care of Anne Arundel County, Easton and Salisbury, which collectively serve clients in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties and the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland.  She also oversees the branch managers and administrative staff at each location and all recruiting efforts.

According to Brueckman, Traff-Barrow joins other regional leaders Lorelei Palemine, RN, BSN, regional clinical director; Laura Jones, RN, BSN, regional director of Skilled Services; Suzanne Smith, regional Finance director; and Christina Wingate-Spence, regional director of Marketing and Community Outreach, all of whom have various roles and responsibilities across the organization.

“I have always taken great pride in the strength and professionalism of our caregivers, nurses, therapists and administrative team members,” says Brueckman. “Our regional leadership team shares in that pride, as well as in our vision to not only be a provider of quality in-home care, but to also be a source for educational programs in our communities. These regional leaders – whose collective experience in the health care industry spans several decades – live and work in the communities we serve, which only makes them more committed to the health and well-being of the clients, family members, friends and neighbors we care for.”

BrightStar Care provides home care services, making it possible for people to age in place and recover from illnesses and injuries at home.  The organization specializes in caring for people with complex medical needs – pediatric through geriatric – including Alzheimer’s disease and various dementias, ALS, end-of-life support, paralysis, and many conditions requiring skilled nursing care including IV therapy and wound care.  The BrightStar Care team offers both personal care provided by a home health aide or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and care for complex medical needs provided by a Registered Nurse (RN).
