New Poll Shows How Virginians View Health Care

What do Richmond Seniors Think About Health Care?

State poll results show that Virginians support Medicaid expansion, hold positive views of hospitals, favor preserving Certificate of Public Need, and believe insurers should do more to address unexpected medical bills and improve price transparency,

The statewide survey conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy finds that Virginia hospital approvals exceed 80%, 71% support Medicaid expansion, 55% want to maintain Virginia’s Certificate of Public Need Program, 94% say insurance companies should provide more health care cost information to consumers, and 51% believe insurers should be responsible when patients are billed for out-of-network emergency care.  The results show that 7 in 10 Virginians (71%) continue to strongly support Medicaid expansion in the Commonwealth. More than 300,000 people have gained coverage under a bipartisan expansion plan that state lawmakers approved in 2018 to extend care to thousands of low-income Virginia adults.
