Fall Prevention for Richmond Seniors

January 27, 2018
Image result for senior fall preventionAs is everyone in some way or another, seniors in the Richmond area may be prideful about speaking up when it comes to their health and needing help, especially when it comes to falling. What may seem simple and mundane to a young or middle aged person, may prove to be difficult to the older generation. This can include daily routines such as walking, transferring from and to a wheelchair, putting on or taking off clothes, making meals, carrying groceries or laundry. On the other hand, adult children of their aging parents may be gun-shy or possibly not aware that their parents are in need of help, and do not bring up the discussion.  As a result of all of these factors, many times, Richmond seniors do not always get the care that they need as soon as they need it. As your parents are aging, keep a watchful eye and be aware of their abilities to determine whether or not you think it is time to get them into a fall prevention - or rehabilitation program if they have fallen and injured themselves - program, or to even just talk to their medical care provider.
