In the ever-evolving world of health care, the emphasis on skill proficiency and patient safety remains paramount. Recognizing the importance of these factors, BrightStar Care of Phoenix has implemented rigorous competency testing for their Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Assistants (CNA/HHA) in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

CPR: A Vital Lifesaving Skill

CPR is a potentially life-saving procedure administered to someone who is in cardiac arrest. Administered correctly, it can save a life by maintaining the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain and other vital organs until further measures can restore a normal heart rhythm.  All CPR and other clinical training is led by Molly Schliem, the Director of Nursing and Education.    Molly has been a nurse since 2005 and her background is in Cardiac Intensive Care, so is highly familiar with the potential life-saving technique when CPR is done correctly.  Molly Is a CPR instructor through the American heart Association so she knows exactly what is needed to train Brightstar’s home-care team correctly.

Given the time-sensitive nature of cardiac events and the potential for sudden emergencies in healthcare settings, it's of utmost importance that all healthcare professionals, including CNA/HHAs, are not only trained in CPR but also regularly re-evaluated to ensure that they can perform this critical procedure effectively under pressure. “You hope they will never have to use it” states Molly, “but it is absolutely vital that our Home Care Team be certified and tested to ensure that they can do it effectively if ever needed.”

BrightStar Care's Commitment to Excellence

Under the vigilant supervision of Molly, BrightStar Care’s commitment to rigorous testing reflects their dedication to excellence in patient care. Molly ensures that CNA/HHAs don't just learn CPR, but other skills including the processes for infection prevention and tb skin testing to maximize the ability to safely care for their clients.  By conducting this training, they seek to ensure that they can execute CPR and other procedures with precision when seconds count.
