About Carrie
I realized a little later in life that nursing was my true calling. So, I went back to school and completed an Accelerated 2nd degree program to attain my BSN in 2007, and I’ve never looked back. Nursing is where I belong. My first job as an RN was in an all-inclusive adult ICU at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, where I learned many invaluable skills and lessons. It was an incredible way to start my new career: trial by fire!
After six years, my growing family made the move to West Michigan where I took a position in the Procedural Services department (pre-op, outpatient post-op, and PACU) at Trinity Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. I spent eight years there before deciding to move into Home Infusion nursing with BrightStar Care of Northern Michigan in 2021. I thoroughly enjoy being out in the community and having the chance to get to know my patients on a much deeper level, as I spend time with them and their families in the comfort of their own homes. It’s a very different pace than working at a hospital, and I am truly grateful for the flexibility and autonomy that comes along with it. BrightStar Care has always been a terrific employer. They’re great at communicating, understanding concerns, and showing their employees how much they are valued. I now work part-time for four different home infusion companies, but BrightStar is still the most supportive!
In my free time, my husband and I find our world revolves around our two children and their schedule of activities these days. We run between hockey, rugby, volleyball, lacrosse, piano lessons and Odyssey of the Mind meetings. It’s a wonderfully busy time in our lives. We love to travel and seek adventure together whenever possible, and to be outdoors in any capacity, whether it’s hiking, biking, skiing, boating, fishing or going to the beach. We’ve even been known to sky-dive, hang-glide and repel from rocky cliffs! I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula (Marquette), so we try to get up there to visit family and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors as often as we can.
Thank you, Carrie!
Carrie, your dedication, professionalism, and compassion do not go unnoticed. You embody the best of BrightStar Care, and we are incredibly grateful to have you on our team. Keep up the amazing work—you are an inspiration to us all!
