Can Someone Help Us? Advocacy in Today's Healthcare Climate.
The topic of the presentation will be "Can Someone Help Us? Advocacy in Today's Healthcare Climate."
In today's world, we don't know when a health need may go from simple to complex. You may not be prepared to navigate the changes occurring in emergency rooms, hospitals, or nursing, sub-acute, and assisted living facilities. This presentation will provide information for you to understand the differences in these environments and help you to know where to go for help, who to talk to, and, very importantly, how to organize the necessary information and prepare the right questions to ask. And, it will provide resources to assist as well.
The speakers will be Lori Kayne, MSW, C-ASWCM, and Ruth Rothbart-Mayer, LCSW. Lori, is a licensed social worker who has worked in various settings in the field of geriatrics, including hospitals and nursing homes. She also worked for many years as a Geriatric Care Manager. Lori is currently working with Shana Siegel, Eldercare Attorney at Norton McLaughlin where she helps to develop the Life Care Planning component of the practice, which provides comprehensive legal and financial planning in the context of care needs. Ruth is a Psychotherapist and Eldercare Coach and has been working with and advocating for older adults. As an Elder Care Coach, she consults with families in need of guidance regarding someone they care about whose physical, cognitive, and emotional needs are changing; she designs a care plan and remains involved for as long as families request. Caregiving is multi-faceted and ever-changing. Ruth focuses on helping families develop the skills needed to handle change while at the same time assisting them to care for themselves.

Also, if you find yourself past the point of prevention learn about what resources can help when things may be much more complicated.
Presented by Jennifer Criso, Daily Money Manager since 2013, who holds a Law degree from Pace University School of Law, an undergraduate degree in English from Montclair State University and has lived in New Jersey her whole life.
