In November 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we came out of retirement and relocated from Florida back to Massachusetts to take ownership of the BrightStar Care of Milford-Framingham franchise. This decision was both personal and professional, as the Milford location is ideally situated between our two daughters—our eldest resides in New Hampshire, and our youngest lives in Rhode Island.

Our move back to Massachusetts was driven by a desire to be closer to family while pursuing the exciting opportunity BrightStar Care offered. Brenda, a Registered Nurse, has a passion for helping others, while Rich, a seasoned Sales Professional, excels in building connections and fostering relationships. Together, we bring complementary skills and shared experience to running the franchise, having previously owned and operated a car dealership in Salem, New Hampshire.

While running a business together has its challenges, we thrive as a team, leveraging our strengths to provide quality care and support to our clients. Outside of work, our greatest joy comes from spending time with our family. We are proud grandparents to four wonderful grandchildren: an 8-year-old grandson, a 3-year-old granddaughter, a 2-year-old granddaughter, and a 9-month-old grandson.

My career in healthcare started in 1979 when I was 16 years old at a nursing home in Vermont. It was hard work, but I knew from that moment, I would be a nurse one day. I’ve since graduated from Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) with my Associates Degree in Nursing (ADNU) and later returned to Rhode Island College (RIC) where I earned my Bachelors in Nursing Science. I was among the first students at RIC to receive my Certificate of Graduate Studies in Nurse Case Management, followed by my Master’s in Nursing with a focus on Public Health Nursing.

Over the years I have held various positions including my time at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, home infusion nurse, Director of Nursing, Regional Director of Nursing Education and Administration, and Vice President of Clinical Operations. I obtained the distinction of Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) as well as becoming an Immunoglobulin Certified Nurse (IgCN). In these roles I have had the opportunity to care for the young, the old, and everyone in between. This experience has grown my passion for home health nursing, patient advocacy, and prioritizing patient care above all.

Having a diversified background allows me to understand the vast complexities of the internal and external fundamentals of home care. As a nurse in home care, I have the unique opportunity to provide a very personal multifaceted level of care attending to patient’s physical and emotional needs.

I have a passion for providing the highest quality of care to our patients. I strive to make a difference in lives of every patient I encounter.

Three unique strengths I bring to Bright Star Care are:

3. I am able to quickly adapt to the changing world we call Health Care. Patients are coming home quicker and sicker. Home health is constantly evolving. We must be willing to follow the curve and learn new strategies to help patients remain in their home safely. This is what I am committed to doing.

Being branch manager for a home health care agency isn't something I saw myself doing, but once I started, I instantly fell in love with it. I started here at BrightStar Care part time to assist my mother (Owner-Brenda) with small tasks. As I learned more about the company, I took on more responsibilities and became manager of our branch. My mom and I work hand-in- hand to ensure all of our clients and employees are taken care of. Not manypeople get the opportunity to work with their family, and I am very lucky to be able to be part of this team. I spend most of my time working in the background taking care of everyday tasks. I like to bring exciting, creative, and fun ideas to help improve our team. When I am not working, you will find me spending time with my family. I am the mom to a wild, loving, 6 year old boy and a baby girl (our mascot, below).

I began my career in the healthcare field in 2022, working with mentally disabled elders in a care facility. Initially pursuing a career in hairstyling, I discovered a profound passion for helping others, which inspired me to transition into healthcare. This realization marked the start of a deeply fulfilling journey, leading me to work as a caregiver for disabled children—a role where I truly felt I belonged.

Providing compassionate, high-quality care brings me immense joy and a sense of purpose. My dedication to ensuring clients' comfort and well-being drives me to deliver the highest standard of care. Having an aunt in a nursing home in Puerto Rico has given me personal insight into the emotional challenges many clients face when accepting assistance, particularly after living independently. I approach my role with empathy, kindness, and the commitment to make each individual feel respected and cared for, reassuring them they are in good hands.

On a lighter note, while I am passionate about supporting others, I have yet to overcome my fear of roller coasters—but I am determined to face that challenge one day!

Outside of work, I enjoy following the NBA, watching WWE, playing online and mobile games, and spending quality time at home with my family.

I have been working in the healthcare field for nearly three years, gaining valuable experience in both hospital and home health settings. My background includes working with doctors' orders and maintaining accurate documentation, which has enhanced my attention to detail and organizational skills.

I excel at multitasking and thrive in roles where efficiency and precision are key. I am deeply passionate about helping individuals in need, and I approach my work with a positive and compassionate attitude.

On a personal note, I am a proud wife and mother to a wonderful 4-year-old son. I have a love for coffee and enjoy bringing joy to others with my cheerful demeanor and warm smile.

Kelsey is the youngest and loudest of our office staff.  Proficient in causing trouble, making us laugh, and making a mess.  Kelsey can be found in the background of phone calls between the office staff.  She spends her time getting into mischief, searching for snacks and makes an occasional appearance in our Milford office. When not working, Kelsey enjoys going to dance class, jumping up and down in muddy puddles, tumbling and watching Peppa Pig.

Kelsey keeps our team smiling and brings the family vibe we strive to deliver to our clients.
