BrightStar Care Partners with Waters Elementary to Help a Local Veteran
Partnering with local groups is one of the many ways our team invests in the communities we call home. This week we were honored to have Waters Elementary reach out to us after meeting a local veteran. During a visit to The Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Destination Imagination(DI) team of Waters Elementary learned about Lance Corporal Ronnie and his need for a wheelchair ramp.
Ronnie was in the Marines and was deployed in Desert Storm. The DI team enjoyed learning about his job which was to help remind military personal on teeth cleanings. The kids got a chuckle about hearing how he didn’t enjoy it but did it anyways. Due to his medical related conditions, Ronnie is bound to a wheelchair. His home unfortunately wasn’t prepared for his new device. This is where The DI Team saw a problem that they could help solve but needed a little support.
The Waters Elementary DI team committed to a fundraiser at their school that involved pajama days, crazy hair days and other events. BrightStar Care Lubbock offered to donate the additional needed funds to cover the costs of Ronnie’s ramp. Through their efforts they raised $400! We are proud donate an additional $1000 to help complete Lance Corporal Ronnie’s wheelchair ramp.
Thank you Waters Elementary Destination Imagination team for allowing us to help you, help others.
