Real Life Story: Podcast episode: Music Therapy empowers a Parkinson's patient

July 29, 2024
Lori Kewalram
You're going to want to listen to this episode whether or not you have or know someone with Parkinson's. It's inspirational for anyone that wants to hear how someone with positivity overcomes challenges (like Parkinson's).

We got to talk with Darlene who describes what Music Therapy has done for her - and it's a lot more than you'd think. She explains how it changed the way that she has been able to manage her Parkinson's and how much it means to her.

"I could button my button and I could be understood. It was like a miracle", says Darlene in this episode - and she says it with style and verve.

Karen Skipper, of Tremble Clefs Orange County, explains how Music Therapy is different from Speech Therapy. She describes her passion for this method of helping people with Parkinson's and how Tremble Clefs does so much more than just helping people with the physical symptoms of Parkinson's.

Both I and Biju really enjoyed learning from Darlene & Karen about what music therapy can do for us.
