The History behind November 11th, Veteran’s Day

November 16, 2023

In November, we honor all Veterans who have served our country. We commend them for their bravery, loyalty, and dedication to our country. History.com states “In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as “the Great War.” Hence in 1938, November 11th was designated as the official day to remember all those Veterans who have fought for us and our families and protected our communities.

We have 729,645 veterans in Ohio, according to Va.gov. Their strength, fearlessness, and commitment resonate within all of us, and there is much respect and empathy for those who have defended our freedom and safety.

There are many local organizations who donate to these honorable men and women. Some even have volunteering opportunities.

Brightstar Care of Hudson/Solon partners with the Veterans Care Coordination team to provide home care to our Veterans.

Please join us as we think of more ways in which we can honor Vets in the Cleveland and Akron areas. State your ideas in the comment section under our Veteran’s Facebook post.
