Program Summary: Many clinicians do not feel comfortable speaking and dealing with the topic of death and dying even though it is something that comes up a lot in our work.
Join us for an engaging and informative workshop, facilitated by Tova Jussim LCSW-C, where clinicians will learn best practices in talking to patients or clients about death and dying.
Participants will learn about the common barriers to talking about death and how to empower their patients or clients by providing them with honest and accurate information so that they can make informed decisions regarding their end-of-life care.
Ethical issues related to discussing end of life issues with our clients will be explored and participants will learn how to “master the dance” of encouraging hope while preparing for realistic outcomes.
In an engaging and interactive format, social workers will be given the skills they need to encourage their patients or clients to leave a legacy – not just an inheritance. Additionally, participants will learn about resources and books that can help them further develop their understanding of this very important topic.
Tova Jussim, LCSW-C, has spent 20 years helping people to age-in-place, guiding them towards advanced care planning and long-term and short-term care planning. She has facilitated family meetings, caregiver support, and counseling for grief and bereavement. She is a recognized expert in her field, regularly teaching classes to other professionals about how to help people in medical crises.
