We have wonderful caregivers and we always want to make all of them feel valued and appreciated. Once each month, we give special recognition to one caregiver. This month, we want to tell you a bit about Sandra Colon.
Sandra was raised in a military family. Her father's Army career took him and his family from Sandra's native Puerto Rico to Germany and then to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. That’s not a lot of moving for an Army family and it was no accident that it wasn’t more. Sandra’s father came from a family of 8 and has a great love of family. For that reason, he managed his career to minimize having to move them very often. She carries on that tradition of making family a priority.
Sandra came to Spartanburg 13 years ago and she has three children of her own which she says taught her a lot, especially since one of them has asthma which imposes certain dietary restrictions. Because of this, she says she’s learned to adapt.

Before becoming a caregiver, Sandra spent 19 years with Chick-Fil-A. From this she learned to read people, how to talk to people and she learned to have empathy and flexibility. She wanted to do something more and decided she would like to work in some field related to medicine and chose to become a caregiver. While she was working and raising children she also went to school. Sandra has been a caregiver for 3 years.
