2020 has not been what anyone expected. Between the Pandemic, the fact that it’s an Election Year, and all of the South Florida weather scares… it is more stress than anyone deserves. But what happens when you, or a loved one, needs care at home?
Some factors to consider when determining whether or not Home Care is right for you include: Is it safe to have a stranger in my home? How can I afford care at home? And even, What are my options for care if I am not at home? The weight of those questions is heavy enough, but the added pressure of a Novel Virus adds an extra layer of stress.
So is Home Care Safe for you during a Pandemic?
The answer is up to you!
This answer may be surprising to some of you, as we are conditioned to believe that when someone is “selling something,” they make a hard pitch.
Even though COVID-19 can by scary, we know that maintaining independence long term sometimes begins with asking for a little bit of help. We all face everyday challenges at home, whether it be ambulation, difficulties with vision, or hearing, isolation, and maybe even caregiver burnout from lack of a break! BrightStar Care is taking all possible steps to ensure that every in-home care experience is the safest it can be! Some of the steps we are taking include but are not limited to:
- Providing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including Disposable and reusable cloth masks, Hand Sanitizer, Hand Soap and Gloves to all Field-Employees to keep in each Clients’ home
- Infrared Thermometers in each home to monitor the Temperature of all household members at the beginning and end of each shift
- The option to sign all Intake Paperwork via DocuSign and VideoChat Consultation instead of in-person, to limit the number of people in each home at once
- Increased Disinfection of frequently touched surfaces in homes
- COVID-19 Standalone training, as well as an additional added section in our Caregivers’ Annual Competency Training
