For the last several years, BrightStar Care Cedar Rapids/Iowa City has enjoyed doing something special for the holiday season.
This year, we set up a coat drive to provide gently used coats, hats, and gloves. Between donations from our office staff and our friends and family in the community, we were able to collect over 60 coats. We also had monetary donations from staff which went to purchase several coat sizes that weren’t available through donation. What a wonderful feeling, knowing that people that were in need of winter clothing will not have to go without due to the compassion of so many.
Due to the outpouring of donations, we were also able to provide our excess coats to a community member who was looking for assistance in setting up their school donation closet for students and families who needed one or many.
The way that the BrightStar family and community can come together when asked is awe inspiring and just what we needed to make the holiday even more special.
