Michelle's professional journey is marked by significant roles that have honed her leadership and operational skills. At BrightStar Care of Bel Air MD, she has served as both the Director of Operations and Director of Client Services. In her current role, she oversees branch operations, ensuring adherence to BrightStar Care brand and location standards. She partners with the Owner, Director of Nursing, Customer Care Manager, and Community Liaison to enhance patient-centered care and drive business growth. Michelle also manages the recruitment team, ensuring compliance with internal processes and documentation, maintains appropriate staffing levels, and manages the skilled intake process to fulfill referrals. She builds and nurtures relationships with national accounts, pharmacies, hospitals, and skilled referral sources.

Her previous experience includes leading a high-performing Account Management team at Helion Technologies, where she fostered client relationships and ensured overall customer satisfaction. At Element Fleet Management, Michelle managed a client service team, developing and reporting on key performance metrics, identifying trends, and implementing corrective action plans. At Harte-Hanks Data Services Inc., she implemented organizational changes to improve operational efficiency and service delivery, developed marketing strategies, and provided training on best practices, leading to increased revenue growth. Earlier in her career, Michelle held various positions at Trahan Burden & Charles Inc., Barry Blau & Partners, and MBNA America Bank NA, where she developed and managed direct marketing campaigns and built strong client relationships.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a Major in Advertising from West Virginia University, where she earned the Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarship. She was also a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and participated in Women’s Club Lacrosse.

Kyrsten Leland, the Customer Care Manager at BrightStar Care of Bel Air MD, brings a blend of expertise in healthcare management and client relations to her role. A Cum Laude graduate from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Biology: Allied Health and a Minor in Psychology, Kyrsten has demonstrated a strong academic foundation paired with practical experience.

In her position at BrightStar Care of Bel Air MD since November 2021, Kyrsten is primarily responsible for managing and overseeing the private duty home care schedule, ensuring seamless coordination of care for clients in Harford County, MD. She also leads the scheduling efforts for caregiver and nurse medical staffing assignments. Kyrsten excels in handling customer and employee feedback, resolving conflicts, and providing constructive feedback to staff to enhance the quality of care delivered to clients.

Barwick serves as the Community Liaison for BrightStar Care of Bel Air MD, bringing a wealth of experience in healthcare coordination, sales, and community engagement to her role.  With a master’s degree in psychology from Loyola University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Towson University, Michelle's academic background has laid a strong foundation for her professional endeavors.  Her career includes roles as an Admissions Coordinator and Addiction Counselor at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where she coordinated patient admissions, facilitated communication between patients, families, and medical staff, and provided counseling to patients with addiction issues, developing comprehensive treatment plans to support their recovery.

Michelle's sales expertise is demonstrated through her successful tenure as a real estate agent in and around the Greater Baltimore area.  Her strong communication skills are evident when she is guiding clients through the buying and selling process, providing them with expert advice and support, and when she is negotiating contract terms and conditions to ensure her clients have the most favorable outcome.   Additionally, Michelle's entrepreneurial spirit shines through her ownership of the Harford County Connections Facebook group, a community-focused platform that connects residents and promotes local businesses and services.  Her leadership in this group, which also supports community causes and initiatives, showcases her commitment to community engagement and relationship-building.
