Congratulate Shelnet “Shelly” Stern on being selected as the Caregiver of the Month for June! Shelly’s current client has dementia can often exhibit aggression and challenges. Although these behaviors stem from Dementia, Shelly has truly mastered the art of redirection and has the patience of a true saint. For example, when Shelly takes her client out in public she can be very challenging but Shelly is ever patient and kind. When the day comes where Shelly has to take her client to therapy or a doctor’s appointment, she stays with her even if it goes beyond the scheduled end time for her shift. When Shelly's client moved from her home to a Senior Living Community Shelly was a tremendous help with the transition and made sure her client got to go back to visit her home. Shelly went above and beyond the call of duty when she called and trained her replacement before she left for her vacation to make sure they were fully acquainted with the routine and some of the special quirks of dealing with this client successfully. The clients’ family never stops praising Shelly and the great work she does with their Mom. They admire her and acknowledge that Shelly has the ability to encourage their Mom to do things that they are unable to. Shelly provides gentle and kind care and is always looking out for the best interests of her client and is focused on making her clients day GREAT each and every day.
