Congratulations to Carl Brown!
2018 Western Region Nurse of the Year
Carl Brown was recently named the winner of BrightStar Care’s Nurse of the Year for the Western Region. He’s now in the running for a national nursing award.
Brown, BSN, RN, received the honor during an employee appreciation luncheon last week.
Brown, a Hemet resident will represent the Western Region — Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California, Idaho, Washington, Hawaii and Oregon — April 21, where he’s up against against three other regional winners for BrightStar’s national Nurse of the Year. The awards banquet will be held held April 21 in Chantilly, Virginia. The national award winner receives a $5,000 scholarship award. Brown received a $500 scholarship award and two-round trip tickets to Washington, D.C.
“Carl makes himself accessible to provide a higher standard of care as a dependable resource 24/7 and always puts the client, family and employee needs first – unselfishly!” according to Todd Clement, president of BrightStar Care of Central Western Riverside County. The company provides medical services to senior citizens and others in their homes.
Clement nominated Brown for the award.
“Carl not only himself follows, but is a shining example to others, both externally and internally of each of the BrightStar Care core values – be open and positive, serve with passion, do the right thing, do what you say and make it great,” Clement wrote in Brown’s entry for the award.
“He exemplifies BrightStar’s highest standard of care,” Clement said.
Brown serves as director of Patient Care Services at BrightStar’s Menifee/Sun City office. He oversees more than 100 medical personnel and caregivers. Brown served in the Navy as a corpsman, before he entered the private medical field and moved into home healthcare.
