Cary Nurse Honored as the Southeast Nurse of the Year

Last week, BrightStar Care of Cary hosted a special celebration to share the great news that not only was Vashti Johnson nominated, but that she is a national finalist for the 2016 Nurse of the Year award. “Vashti’s background is very unique and one that I want to shout to the world because it is deserving of recognition,” said local BrightStar Care Owner Lori Kemeny. “Vashti doesn’t see that her accomplishments are amazing and out of the ordinary…she sees them as stepping stones to something bigger and greater than those things that she has already accomplished.” At BrightStar Care®, stories like this one are happening each and every day. To pay tribute to the specialized and tireless work of the thousands of nurses throughout our network, we honor the exceptional work of our nurses across the country through our Nurse of the Year program. Nominations come pouring in and four regional finalists are selected. After reading the wonderful nomination written on her behalf, there was no question of the impact Vashti has made on her team and the clients in her care: “As the agency owner of BrightStar Care of Cary, I see a passion in Vashti that can’t be taught in nursing school. A passion to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves. Not afraid to speak up and be an advocate to clients when their care is being compromised by outside parties.” As a national finalist, Vashti along with the three other finalists will be recognized at BrightStar Care’s Branch Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL on Saturday, April 16 at an Award Gala and the 2016 National Nurse of the Year winner will be announced.
