Nomination Letters
Written by Todd Clement, Owner, BrightStar Care Central Western Riverside Co.
It is my pleasure to nominate for 2018 Nurse of the Year; Carl A. Brown, BSN, RN - Director of Patient Care Services / Nursing. Carl not only himself follows, but is a shining example to others both externally and internally of each of the BrightStar Care Core Values. He represents the Brand to the community and to our employees as to what is "possible!" He exemplifies the BrightStar Care "Higher Standard of Care" in all that he does. We call it "E3 - Exceeding Expectations Everyday!"
Carl has been with BrightStar Care of Central Western Riverside County for 3.5+ years. Carl is the "poster child" as to what each BrightStar Care Registered Nurse should strive for. He contributes to "A Higher Standard of Care" above and beyond just his "job title" and expected duties – he goes the extra mile with clients, families, employees, office staff, referral sources, and the community consistently. Just a few shining star examples of how Carl goes out of his way to make a difference in the life of all our clients, and acts as a leader in our agency and the community, are as follows:
Carl makes himself accessible as a dependable resource to our clients, and employees 24/7 and always puts the client, family, and employee needs first - unselfishly! I have stop counting how many times local healthcare companies we have partnered with have said, "Oh, Carl is going on this case. Great! I trust him and know it will be done right," or, "Wow, this medical charting is the best I have ever seen."
Carl is well known throughout the community, and has hosted countless "Look Who is in the Lobby!" events at senior centers, assisted living communities, and other venues to share how BrightStar Care can help provide high-quality care to those who need it. He helped to support the Alzheimer's Association Walk for the third year in our area that helped to raise over $100,000 for that cause.
Carl is always challenging our agency to be even better than expected. This was recognized when our agency received the Home Care Pulse Leader in Excellence, Provider of Choice, and Employer of Choice awards, independently rated by our clients and employees, multiple years in a row.
What makes Carl unique and deserving of this award is that he always finds a way to maintain his work/life balance and has made countless trips to Disneyland with his kids when he has the time. Perhaps that is where he gets the "MAGIC" that he spreads with his contagious energy that always puts a smile on our clients' faces! Please help me recognize Carl A. Brown, BSN, RN as the elite, best of the best, 2018 NURSE OF THE YEAR!
I was diagnosed with CIDP nine years ago and receive IVIg infusions every 10 days. I have been a patient BrightStar Care for over year. Luckily Carl Brown has been my nurse for a majority of these visits. He is a wonderful, caring, kind man. I don’t have the best veins, but Carl always manages. We spend hours together during my infusion, I am very fortunate he has a great bedside manner. Carl always makes me feel safe and relaxed.
As a patient, it’s comforting to have a nurse that you are in sync with. I realize it is less than the ideal set of circumstances, to be performing medical care in a person’s home. Let alone in a persons RV, which is where I happen to live. All while a German Shepherd with bad breath is guarding the patient. Yet, Carl takes it in stride and doesn't complain or miss a beat.
I can’t believe Carl hasn’t given up on encouraging me to drink less diet soda and more water. This is most likely a futile effort but it hasn’t deterred his resolve.
All these reasons and more, are why I wanted to make you aware of what a great nurse you have at BrightStar Care. However, I suppose you already know that.
